About the Authors
Bruce Russell
Bruce Russell teaches online at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT) in New Zealand, where he is Programme leader in the Graduate Diploma of Information Design. He lectures in information management, communication research and theory, and usability testing - and is currently studying towards a doctorate.
His professional background is as an archivist, including having run NZ's national radio archive. He has also worked as an editor, web content writer, information architect, usability tester and electric tram driver.
As well as teaching, Bruce undertakes consultancy work in association with Wired Internet Group and Skudder Wilson Information Management. His consulting work is mainly around website evaluation, information architecture and user-centred procedure design.
Bruce is also an internationally-known sound artist, and writes in music and cultural criticism. He is best-known as one third of the infamous Dead C. - NZ's long-established improvised noise group.
Greg Comfort
Greg Comfort is a Knowledge Management Specialist for the Christchurch City Council in New Zealand. He also teaches information design in the online Graduate Diploma of Information Design (GDID) course for CPIT in Christchurch.
Greg has worked in sales as a rep and retailer, been a marketing product manager, operated a science book publishing and retailing business, managed and built web sites for a science research company, and was involved in the first dedicated usability testing lab in Christchurch.
He has built several web sites, including the first online bookstore in New Zealand in 1996, and is now a fervent beliver in using web standards to build usable and accessible web sites. Read more about Greg in his LinkedIn profile.
In his spare time he helps raise two children, does a little home DIY, practises Tai Chi, and is partial to single-malt whisky.
